Unemployment rates in 2011

"State data show uneven job growth". March 27, 2011.

For the last 1 year starting from February 2010 till last month, job creations have been increasing, with the total of 1.3 million jobs being added. 44 states show an increase in employment, while 6 other states are still losing jobs, such as Kansas and New Jersey.

Reflection for Class Discussion 3

The discussion we had in class was an influential message to me and maybe to others, because it basically covered all the main factors leading the educational level to a downfall. Personally it changed the way I view education and the importance of it. It made me realize how other students share the same opinions and feelings toward education. It also made me value the significance of the saying “don’t judge a book from its cover”, in which it made me discover how students still have an absolute value to education and that some students now a days are still valuing education as an important aspect for building our generation, which proves some to be wrong about only blaming students for the educational issue. I concluded that all as in teachers, students, the educational system itself, and the educational culture, are all responsible for playing a certain role in making a change take place. I realized an excitement among students in the discussion for sharing their thoughts, as for it gave me a hope for a change. All in all I still hold this idea of valuing education as not only a tool for getting a certain job or to be a part of a certain academic major, but instead, think of education as the tool or the key for gaining more knowledge and simply in knowing something about everything.

The impact of Oil Prices on the Economy

"U.S. Trade Deficit Rose 15% in January on Higher Oil Prices". New York Times Associated Press. March 10, 2011.

With higher oil prices the deficit had rose by 15.1% which is affecting the growth of the economy. The percentage of imports had exceeded the percentage of exports due to the oil issue. Not only the United is States is being effected by this issue, but also China had stated a deficit.

Increase in the request for Unemployment benefits

The amount of people in quest of applying for the application regarding the unemployment benefits had increased comparing to the last 3 years. With more jobs being created it's increasing the chance of more applications to be rejected.

Concerns Over America's Economy

The dream or the hope that Americans had always aimed for owning in the future is just gradually disappearing. More Jobs are Created by Private Companies

An unexpected rise in the hiring job market by private companies bringing the hopes back to people for a better economy. 217,000 employees had been hired by private companies, while the concerns are still focused on Libya's issue which seems to influence the economy especially with gas prices going up.

College Graduates in the Economic Crisis

College graduates especially who graduated in 2009 and 2010 are facing some hardship in finding jobs that would meet their majors. Instead they are finding public services as their only way or as a starting point for them till they actually have the opportunity to get a job they're interested in. A lot are finding that the new generations are being really helpful in which despite the economic crisis is taking place, all young graduates or students are taking community services into their consideration.
